Lakewood Pierce County Library's spaces for children and teens are undergoing a transformation. Improvements are underway to upgrade well-used and well-loved places to create the right learning environments for preschoolers, school age children, tweens and teens. Generous donors have raised more than half of the funds towards a $160,000 goal. You can help transform the children's and teen areas at the Lakewood Library by donating today.
Toddlers and young children need a place that is bright and colorful - a space that sparks their imagination and their natural urges to play and explore.
Tweens and teens require very different spaces from younger children. Students of today have complex needs to assist in their learning - computers and up-to-date technology, high-tech video equipment and screens, spaces and furniture that facilitate group projects and also foster independent study. They need resources to complete homework, and materials to research for projects and jobs. Teens also need safe places to hang out and relax with friends.
Please consider a gift today that will help create unique spaces at the library that all of Lakewood's children will love. With your help, you can see the results of your generosity by the end of the summer. Renovations in the children's areas are underway now - go take a look!
In response to the growing need for resources, computers and training to help job seekers and address the current unemployment crisis, the Foundation sought and was awarded funding from seven grant-making organizations for the Job+Business Center Project.
Along with gifts from the Annual Giving Campaign, the Foundation continues to support the program with more print and online resources and the addition of mobile laptop labs. The labs allow more libraries to offer basic computer classes and career workshops. Donors like you make this program possible!
