Apply to Be a Volunteer

1. Find out if there are volunteer openings in your area of choice.

• Visit your Pierce County Library location, or
• Contact Karol Barkley, Volunteer Services Coordinator

2. Fill out a volunteer application packet.

Pierce County Library System performs background checks at the time of a volunteer’s application.

• Complete one packet for all libraries in the Library System.
• Fill out all of the following forms in order for us to process your application.
• Volunteer Application 
• Criminal Records Check Form 
• Washington State Patrol Form (See instructions below)

Instructions for Washington State Patrol Form - Fill out only "C" & "D":

• Section C:
• Applicant's name
• Any alias or maiden names
• Date of birth
• Sex
• Race
• Section D:
• Applicant's signature
• Applicant's name (printed)
• Address
• City/State/Zip

Community Outreach Services Homebound Delivery 
If you are applying to volunteer with Homebound Delivery, please complete the Homebound Volunteer Application.

3. Return packet.

• Take to your local Pierce County Library location.
• Mail to:

• Email scanned documents as attachments to kbarkley@piercecountylibrary.org
• FAX documents to Karol Barkley, 253-537-1809.

After your forms have been processed, the Volunteer Services Coordinator will notify the library of your choice that you are ready to start. The library staff will contact you to arrange the details.
