Across the Universe
From the very opening lines I loved this movie! I’m not even a Beatles fan, but come on, they’re the Beatles. OK, so if you don’t know about this movie, Across the Universe is a Rock Opera/Musical/Movie which uses re-orchestrated versions of Beatles’ songs as the soundtrack.
Jude (Jim Sturgess, the film’s breakout performer) is an English lad who leaves his home (and his girlfriend) to find his long-lost dad at Princeton University. Jude is taken into the folds of a merry band of quirky people who become his new family. Max (Joe Anderson) is a trouble making hooligan whose younger sis (Evan Rachel Wood) Jude ends up falling for. The two begin their love story amid the chaotic times of the Vietnam War, which eventually tear them apart.
Word on the street is that there is no in between on this movie…you either love it or hate it! Which one are you? I can’t wait to see your comments!!
This movie is PG-13.
