Coming soon! Pierce County Library System and The News Tribune will announce the 2012 Pierce County READS book in early 2012!
Shaped after successful Pierce County READS 2011 community one book program, Pierce County Library System is launching a fourth program in February 2012. The program is premised on everybody in the county reading the same book, at the same time, sharing and discussing the book and coming together as a community. The goal is for residents to come together, share an activity and strengthen their community.
During the READS program in 2012, Pierce County Library will have copies of the selected book available.
For the past four years, including for 2011, the Library used the following criteria to select the book:
- Broad appeal to a wide audience.
- Available in multiple formats, such as paperback and on CD.
- Written by a well-known living author and a good speaker.
- Discussable topics with relevant and meaningful characters and themes.
- Presents themes and issues that can be enhanced in community events and activities.
