Highlights in the history of the University Place Library.
July 1963 - Library opened in a 1,000 square foot storefront in the Prestige Center off 27th.
1969 - Library System purchased a site at 4202 Bridgeport Way W. and began service from a 1,000 square foot building in 1970.
1983 – Expanded the building with the addition a of a modular building once used by the Bonney Lake Library.
1986 - Pierce County residents passed a $28.9 million bond issue to build new libraries, including a 12,000 square foot library in University Place.
1993 – University Place Library opened at 3605 Bridgeport Way W.
1995 After the city incorporated, it annexed to the Library System.
August 2006 – Library moved to temporary location at 7315 27th St. W. to make way for the city of University Place's UPTown Center. 5,700 square feet.
Feb. 12, 2011 - Opened in new location in University Place Civic Building, 3609 Market Place W., with 15,000 square feet.
2012 - In recognition of significant gifts donated to the UP Library Capital Campaign, the following areas inside the Library were named as follows:

Terry D. Reim Spirit of Giving Donor Wall

Edgar and Betty Larson Children’s Computer Station (in honor of their children and grandchildren)

2014 - Kenneth B. DeRoche named in memory of the University Place resident with a generous bequest and family donation.
