Theme Packets

Theme packets contain five specially chosen books to read aloud to young children.

Each dark blue theme packet bag includes a mix of easy picture books, easy readers and nonfiction books on specified subjects just right for young children and their caregivers.

Theme packets are perfect for busy parents, child care providers and teachers to use with preschoolers and kindergarteners.

How to Request Theme Packets

Theme packets are named and arranged by subject themes.

To request a Theme Packet using the library's online catalog,

Type "theme packet" into the Search for: box in the catalog and click Title.
Click on a named packet.
(For some popular subjects, there may be more than one packet, designated A, B, etc. Each contains different books.)
Click on Full Display to view the actual contents of that packet.
Click on Place Request and follow instructions.

Theme packets can be delivered to any library you choose. Theme packets may be borrowed for 21 days, and renewed for an extra 21 days if no one else has requested that packet.

Pierce County Library has more than 100 theme packets of books collected around a common theme.

These links take you to enrichment sheets filled with rhymes, fingerplays, songs and literacy ideas to accompany many of those themes.
