More than 850 teens entered poems and/or short stories in Pierce County Library System’s Teen Poetry & Fiction Writing Contest. Judges reviewed entries on the basis of originality, style, general presentation, grammar and spelling. Contest winners read from their work, published in the annual contest booklet, at an awards ceremony at Pacific Lutheran University, Lagerquist Hall on Wednesday, May 28. Prizes will be awarded in three age groups: 7th and 8th grade, 9th and 10th grade and 11th and 12th grade; and in two categories: poetry and short story.
Pierce County Library Foundation will award six sets of prizes.
This event is hosted by the Pierce County Library Foundation and funded in part by The News Tribune and the Pierce County Arts Commission.
