  • Pierce County Library System closed Dec. 24-25 and Jan. 1 - 12/11/2012
  • TACOMA – Pierce County Library System will be closed Monday, Dec. 24, and Tuesday, Dec. 25, to observe Christmas. Also, the Library System will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 1, to observe New Year’s Day. All Pierce County Libraries will close at 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 31, on New Year’s Eve.

  • Children to build skills and creativity at Summit Pierce County Library - 12/6/2012
  • TACOMA – Children will develop imagination and skills during free events at Summit Pierce County Library, 5107 112th St. E., in Tacoma.

  • Library Board to approve budget, review foundation work and discuss other issues - 12/5/2012
  • TACOMA – At its December meeting Pierce County Library System’s Board of Trustees plans to approve the Library’s 2013 budget; review progress by Pierce County Library Foundation; learn about a block play project for young children and discuss other issues. The Board of Trustees will meet at the Library’s Processing and Administrative Center, 3005 112th St. E., in Tacoma, on Wednesday, Dec. 12, from 3:30 to 6 p.m.

  • Publishers: stop being scrooges and untie the strings on e-books - 12/3/2012
  • TACOMA – The six major publishers are not selling e-books to libraries, including Pierce County Library System, and that’s giving residents throughout Pierce County a raw deal. The public is demanding e-books from libraries and publishers are locking them out.
  • Rags-to-riches tale sings in opera preview at Pierce County Library System - 12/3/2012
  • TACOMA – A magical tale will burst into song during free opera previews at two Pierce County Libraries in December.

  • Spellbinding travel tales and photos at University Place Pierce County Library - 11/21/2012
  • TACOMA – Terrific travel tales will transport adventure enthusiasts during a free event at University Place Pierce County Library, 3609 Market Place W., on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m.

  • A record number of people got Pierce County Library System cards - 11/16/2012
  • TACOMA – More people than ever before signed up for Pierce County Library System cards during the Library’s sixth annual library card drive! The Library System welcomed 10,555 new card holders during the month of October. The number is significant because during typical months approximately 4,000 people sign up for cards.

  • Local business leader Donna Albers on board with Pierce County Library Board - 11/15/2012
  • TACOMA – Donna Albers, managing partner of Albers & Company, will come on board as a new Board of Trustee member for Pierce County Library System in January 2013.

  • Community invited to knit and crochet for charity at Pierce County Library - 11/13/2012
  • TACOMA – Crafty teens and adults will use their skills to knit and crochet for charity during free events at two Pierce County Libraries.

  • Experience the sights and sounds of the season at Pierce County Library System - 11/13/2012
  • TACOMA – Enjoy free performances by The Dickens Carolers, a professional a cappella quartet dressed in Victorian costumes, and The Northern Lights, who play an eclectic mix of folk, soft rock, soul and country music. Celebrate Las Posadas with traditional Mexican food and entertainment. Feeling crafty? Make snowflake decorations or bring gloves and pruning shears to create a fresh evergreen wreath.
