Book Discussion Collection kits are not reserved via our catalog. To reserve a kit, please visit a branch. Staff will show you the booking calendar for titles available for the next year.
See annotated list of adult titles in kits. [ kids/teen list]
Each book club needs to register their group name, contact person, and that person’s Pierce County Library card number in order to check out book kits.
Each book club may choose whether or not to list their club with the Library as being open to new members. For example, a person looking to join a club will be given contact information only for those groups indicating they wish new members.
Staff will fill out an online book request form with you for each title you want to reserve.
Book clubs may book only one kit for the beginning of each new month.
Bookings can be overlapping. For example, a title could be reserved for January and February and an additional title could be reserved for February and March.
Kits check out for two months.
Occassionally bookings for the same title for the same month arrive on the same day. If the title you want has already been booked by another group, you will be notified by phone that another selection needs to be made.
Book Club kits are delivered to your branch choice as close to the first of the month as is feasible. You will be called by branch staff when the kit is available at your branch. Each kit will weigh about 15 lbs.
Kits must be returned on or before the 25th of the second month of booking.
Kits are always sent to the library’s Processing and Administrative Center on the 25th of the month, for staff to inventory the contents and remove damaged books.
Staff will fill out an online form with you if you need to cancel a title.
