Pierce County READS 2008 culminated on Saturday evening, April 26, with a free author event at Pacific Lutheran University, with this year’s selected author, international award-winning Alexander McCall Smith. He delighted and engaged 1,600 people at the event. He also signed books from “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency,” as well as other books he has written, for 400 people for nearly two hours.
