October – December 2008: Library and consultant assess library services and review national trends and comparisons with other libraries’ best practices.

November – December 2008: Library conducts a survey of Pierce County residents about library service.

January – February 2009: Public invited to attend open houses to share what they would like in future library services.

January 2009: Community Leaders Advisory Groups review an assessment of current and projected library services and buildings.

May 2009: Public invited to participate in community meetings to review draft recommendations for library services and spaces.

May 2009: Community Leaders Advisory Groups examine draft recommendations for library services and spaces.

June – August 2009: Library’s consultant incorporates public and community leaders advisory groups’ comments into facilities master plan.

Fall 2009: Library’s Executive Director provides report to Pierce County Library Board of Trustees and requests authorization for an implementation study.
