You may have learned how to help yourself, your family members and friends live better in today’s economy if you were among the more than 100 people who participated in the free public event “Staying Connected, Living Fuller @ 55+: Living on a Shoestring” held at Mel Korum Family YMCA on Saturday, April 4.
Your neighbors who attended the event made comments such as “wonderful workshop and resources!” and “thank you for the learning opportunity.”
The program provided community resources and information helpful to you and your parents as you age. Participants became better connected to their community and gained helpful hints on living during tight economic times.

Attendees picked up helpful consumer tips on stretching their dollars with the keynote address “55+ and Making Every Dollar Count” presented by KOMO-TV’s consumer reporter and news anchor Connie Thompson.
During the very popular learning sessions, local experts taught topics for better living at 55+ including frugal shopping, buying on craigslist, cleaning with green products and finding jobs during tough economic times.

In the highly rated resource area, forty community organizations provided information on services available for people 55+.
