Adult Learning Library - A Special Collection

The Adult Learning Library contains learning resources geared for the adult learner.

Resources include step-level workbooks in mathematics and English language skills, abridged versions of classic novels, contemporary biographies and science texts, and financial, government and citizenship study materials.

These materials provide assistance for adults either learning these subjects for the first time or wishing to improve upon skills.

Locating Items in the Adult Learning Library collection

The six larger libraries (Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Parkland/Spanaway, South Hill, Sumner, University Place) have the largest number of ALL materials, which are usually housed in a special area of the library.

The Adult Learning Library materials are assigned call numbers beginning with ALL and can be found in our Catalog:

1. Select one of the larger six libraries from the Currently logged into: drop-down menu.
   
2. Choose More Options from the main page of Catalog.
   
3. Choose Browse method, and use ALL as the Call Number - for novels.
   
4. Choose Browse method, and use ALL B as the Call Number - for biographies.
   
5. Choose Browse method, and use ALL 000.00 as the Call Number - for subject materials.
   

   Note: Inserting an appropriate call number into the search can help shorten and focus the displayed list of subject materials. Examples:

   • For society, government and finance topics begin with ALL 300.
   • For language skills use ALL 400.
   • For mathematics and science begin with ALL 500.
   • For health and medicine begin with ALL 600.
   • For writing, poetry and plays use ALL 800.
   • For history and geography use ALL 900.
