Books and other Materials in Languages other than English

Pierce County Library provides a limited amount of popular and informational material in several international languages other than English. |

- French
- German
- Japanese*
- Korean*
- Russian*
- Spanish
- Tagalog
- Vietnamese*
The six largest libraries (Lakewood, Gig Harbor/Peninsula, Parkland/Spanaway, South Hill, Sumner and University Place) each offer books and other materials in these world languages.
Some libraries focus on a particular language, such as Spanish at Sumner and Parkland/Spanaway. Please talk to a staff person for more information.
*Note on non-Latin alphabets: Currently in the library catalog, the display of records for non-Latin alphabet items show only in romanized text. Please contact a staff person for further assistance.
Multi-Language DVDs
In addition to the materials above, the libraries offer some DVDs with multiple languages within the same DVD.
These can be searched by desired language within our catalog based on the 3-digit language codes of the Library of Congress. To search for specific language within the online catalog:
- Use the Boolean search mode and incorporate LA=xxx into your search. (xxx being the appropriate code per: http://www.loc.gov/marc/languages for your language.)
