Library Card Drive
Fifth annual Library Card Drive: Oct. 1 - 31, 2011
- 7,050 children and adults got cards during the month of October. In a typical month, approximately 4,500 people sign up for cards.
- 262,082 people now have Pierce County Library cards. Pierce County Library retains a credible database of card holders. It removes any cards that haven’t been used for two years.
- During the card drive, people could enter to win an iPad2, a gift from Pierce County Library Foundation. Maria Bennyhoff, of Bonney Lake, is the proud winner.

Top reasons to get a library card
Your Pierce County Library card will bring you the world of information and imagination!
- More than 1.3 million books, movies and more.
- Professional online tutors to help students with homework and adults write resumes, apply for jobs, learn about finances and budgets, and more.
- Audiobooks, e-books and songs to download to home computer and portable devices.
- Time reserved on a computer for up to 48 hours in advance and for up to two hours of use. Without a library card, people may get a one-time visitor pass for up to 30 minutes on one or two computers.
- Credible, reliable information from e-sources of subscription magazines and more.
Who can get a card?
You are eligible for a free library card if you live or own property in unincorporated Pierce County or a city or town annexed to Pierce County Library System – Bonney Lake, Buckley, DuPont, Eatonville, Edgewood, Fife, Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Milton, Orting, South Prairie, Steilacoom, Sumner, University Place or Wilkeson – or you live on a military base, tribal lands or National Parks within unincorporated Pierce County.
If you live in Puyallup, Roy or Tacoma, you may also get a free card through borrowing agreements with Pierce County Library.
