Basic Computers I This computer class for the absolute beginner will familiarize you with basic computer skills and terms. Basic Computers II This computer class for the absolute beginner will familiarize you with basic computer skills and terms. A continuation of Basic Computers I. Beginning Word Processing This class will cover the basics of Microsoft Word. Skills taught will enable users to type, edit, format, print and save text to a storage device such as a floppy disc or pen / flash drive. Beginning Excel Basic introduction to Microsoft Excel, a spreadsheet application. Includes discussion of what spreadsheets are and can be used for. Set up a new worksheet, enter numerical and text data into cells, do simple calculations and formulas. E-mail Basics: Introduction to Gmail This class will show you how you how to set up a free gmail account, explore the gmail inbox, read, reply to, and compose e-mail messages and add an attachment to an e-mail. E-Books, Audiobooks and MP3s Learn how to download and listen to books on your MP3 or iPod. Learn what an e-book is and how to use it. Questions are welcome! Introduction to the Internet This one-hour class is for those who want to learn the basics of the Internet. We will cover understanding the screen and navigating the page, printing, search engines, search tips and how to evaluate information from a Web site. Introduction to Library E-Sources This one-hour class is an introduction to the databases and electronic reference books that Pierce County Library offers access to. Learn how to access magazine and newspaper articles, business information, genealogy tools, auto repair and more from the library or from home. This class is intended for those with at least basic computer skills—able to use a mouse, some familiarity with the Internet. Social Networking This class will discuss online social networking, what it is, how it works and what it can do for you. Whether you want to better promote yourself in the job market, catch up with old friends or stay in better touch with family, this class will help you get started. |
