Using a series of vision statements, initially participants worked in small groups to synthesize the possible futures for Pierce County Library System. Then merging into five larger groups, participants created a top 10 list of priorities for a future library, emphasizing the themes of services, place, and value.

All of the groups presented, discussed, and lobbied for their top ten lists for the future Pierce County Library System. The reoccurring items common in some of the lists included:
