About Us

Participation in Community Organizations

Pierce County Library System seeks to have staff actively involved with community organizations in the Library’s service area. Staff participation in community organizations is intended to achieve the following goals:

• Increase knowledge, awareness, and support of the Library System by community leaders.
• Create partnerships for collaborative opportunities and activities, with organizations and community leaders.
• Participate as a valued community member, embedded in the applicable organization, to help with community issues.
• Position Pierce County Library System as a valued service and as a community leader.

Strategic Organizations: Organizations identified by the Library as important connections to position the Library or library staff as a community leader and result in effective collaborations.

When joining a strategic organization is assigned to or required of the position and with prior approval from the Executive Director, the Library will support community involvement by reimbursing staff for some costs.
