
In the Sept. 19, 2006 primary election, voters in Pierce County Library System’s service area cast their ballots to maintain current services and add Library services.
The Library System is delighted to maintain current services and offer improved services to its growing and changing communities.
By a 54.74 percent approval, voters supported Proposition 1, to re-authorize the Library System’s levy rate to 48 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value in 2007. That is an 8 cent increase from the Library’s current levy rate of 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value.
In 2006, taxpayers paid 40 cents for every $1,000 in assessed property for library services. On average, homeowners paid $90 in 2006 for Library services. The re-authorized levy to 48 cents per $1,000 of assessed property will cost the average home assessed at $244,000 an increase of $27 for one year—2007.
With the Library’s re-authorized levy rate, it will deliver communities the following services in 2007:
