Highlights in the history of the Bonney Lake Library.
1975 - Bonney Lake Library began as a two-year demonstration project, with funds from a Federal Library Services and Construction Act Title II grant. It was housed in a 2,000 square foot module building on a city-leased lot on corner of Old Buckley Highway and Locust. At the end of the grant, the city of Bonney Lake contracted with the Library System for continued service.
1980 - Residents passed a bond issue to construct a new library.
1982 - Bonney Lake Library opened at 18501 90th St. E. with 3,400 square feet.
1988 - Peggy Moore Meeting Room named in recognition of her contribution to the level and quality of public library service in Bonney Lake. (Resolution 88-17)
1995 - Library System purchased partial interest in building.
March 1997 - Library reopened after extensive remodel and expansion to 6,040 square feet.
August 2005 - Library reopened after remodel with self-service checkout.
April 2006 - Library installed a Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing wireless Internet access for personal laptops.
