Although Pierce County Library offers a very large number of books and other materials, the Library may occasionally not own the specific book or article you are looking for. In most cases you can request it from another library elsewhere in the country and pick it up at your local library.
We call this service Interlibrary Loan (ILL).
If you would like to borrow something from us that is not currently in our catalog, or request that we add a physical item to our collections, you can fill out our Purchase Request Form. Customers are limited to two requests each week; the week starts on Sunday. If the title you are requesting is one we decide to not add to our collection through purchase, we will attempt to Interlibrary Loan the title for you. Although not required, it is highly recommended to include your email address in your request, as doing so allows us to give you updates or ask additional questions.
In this request form, you will be asked to give us an upper limit of potential ILL borrowing charges you would be willing to pay. We always attempt to borrow from US libraries willing to loan for free, and most libraries do loan for free. But if the only owning libraries charge a borrowing fee for ILL, your stated upper limit will guide us in either continuing or canceling that particular request.
If you are requesting an article or obituary copy, please also proceed as though requesting the title for purchase, and then select the specific format. You will then be guided to provide the article and/or obituary specific information.
Note: The above form is for physical titles only. If you would like to suggest we purchase access to ebook or e-audiobook titles, please use the "Recommend" feature within Overdrives website. Instructions on how to recommend titles can be found in Overdrive Help.
