Can I get reminders about my account?
How do I log on to my account?
- Click on My Account at the top of any page on the Library's website, www.piercecountylibrary.org.
- Enter your Username or Library Card (Barcode) number.
How do I enter my library card number?
- Type in the entire 14-digit number as shown on the back of your library card. Do not include spaces.
What is my username?
- You may create your own username to use in place of your 14-digit library card number.
How do I create my own username?
- Click on Create Username under the first box.
- Follow the instructions, including entering the library card number from the back of your library card and your Password/PIN.
- Submit and begin using your new username!
What do I do if I forget my library card number?
- If you forget your library card number, contact staff at your local library. Library staff will ask you questions to verify your identity, and will then be able to tell you your library card number.
What is my Password/PIN?
- When your account is created, your PIN number is the last four digits of the phone number on that account.
- You may change or customize your PIN by logging on to your account and clicking on Change Logon.
How do I apply for a Pierce County Library card?
First, check your eligibility. Pierce County Library System cards are free to residents within the Library’s service area and some reciprocating libraries. Get a library card.
- Apply at any Pierce County Library: Please bring valid photo ID and official indication of your address with you. If you are eligible, a permanent card will be assigned to you at that time.
- Apply online: You will receive a temporary account number, which you may use to place holds on books and other materials or use e-sources. You will receive a permanent card, necessary in order to check out materials, when you go to your library.

What fines or fees does the library charge?
The Library System is not currently assessing fines for overdue books and materials given the ongoing economic burden brought on by the pandemic as well as the overall disruption to library service.
Can I pay my library fine online?
Yes! You may pay any fine or fee on your Pierce County Library account online with any of the following credit cards:
- American Express
- Discover
- MasterCard
- Visa
To pay online:
- Log into your library account and select the Fines & Fees tab on the left side of the page.
- Check the box(es) to the left of the fine(s) you wish to pay and select the Pay Fines Now link near the bottom of the screen.
- On the next page, enter your library account and credit card information. Click the Help link for information about your credit card's security code.
- Provide your e-mail address to receive an e-mail receipt of your transaction or print the page confirming your transaction.
- NOTE: A payment confirmation page or emailed receipt printout is required as proof of payment when requesting a refund.
How do I make changes to my account?
- To change your phone number or e-mail address, log in to your account and click on Change Account Information.
- To change how you receive notices (choices are email, telephone or text), please see e-mail services, or contact your local library.
- To change your address, please see branch staff at your next library visit.
