Plans to Reopen Fife and Lakewood Libraries with Limited Technology Services
The Pierce County Library System is reimagining technology services, so you may use computers at the Fife and Lakewood Pierce County Libraries in 2021, with no set date yet for reopening. The Library is preparing to offer computer, printing and Wi-Fi access safely in alignment with requirements in the States’ Safe Start plan. The Library System selected these two locations because they serve communities with among the lowest in-home access to technology in Pierce County.
The health and safety of the public and staff is a top priority of the Library’s plan to expand services. The Library System will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases in Pierce County and follow the guidance and information from state and local health officials, to determine the dates the Library System may safely reopen Fife and Lakewood Libraries with technology services.
We are excited to continue to serve Pierce County communities. Watch the Library’s website for information about the Library System’s plan and timeline.
The library buildings are closed to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and we are here to serve you with library services at the curb. You can get Library Curbside through the website or by calling a library. Please note, book donations are not being accepted at this time. Please call the library to get ideas for alternate donation places in your community.
We’re very glad to offer curbside service.
Face coverings and socially distancing required while on library property.
No Fines
The Library System will not assess fines for overdue books and materials for the remainder of 2021 given the ongoing economic burden brought on by the pandemic as well as the overall disruption to library service.
Book Drops Open
Book drops are open at all locations. Materials will be checked in after being quarantined for several days and there are no late fines in 2021.
Wi-Fi Available
Free Wi-Fi service is on for limited use outside of the buildings in parking lots. Please be sure to social distance – keeping a minimum of six feet away from others when you are in the parking lots and respecting all library instructions. Connectivity issues may arise as Wi-Fi coverage is intended for use inside the library buildings. Staff is not available to assist with connecting with this service. If you need assistance, please contact your mobile service provider or other support.
