Washington Safe Start guidance for in-library service
On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020, Washington State’s Safe Start plan updated to allow libraries to offer some in-building activities at 25% capacity. Pierce County Library System is reviewing the Safe Start guidelines for in-building library service and developing plans based on this announcement. The health and safety of the public and staff is a top priority of the Library’s reopening plans. The Library System does not have reopening dates, and it will let the public know when it has more information.
The Library System is very excited to reopen library buildings safely for the public and staff. Please watch the Library’s website for information about its plan and timeline in the coming weeks.
The library buildings are closed to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and we are here to serve you with library services at the curb. You can get Library Curbside through the website or by calling a library.
We’re very glad to offer curbside service.
Face coverings and socially distancing required while on library property.
The Library System will not assess fines for overdue books and materials for the remainder of 2020 given the ongoing economic burden brought on by the pandemic as well as the overall disruption to library service.
Book Drops Open
Book drops are open at all locations. Materials will be checked in after being quarantined for several days and there are no late fines in 2020.
Free Wi-Fi service is on for limited use outside of the buildings in parking lots. Please be sure to social distance – keeping a minimum of six feet away from others when you are in the parking lots and respecting all library instructions. Connectivity issues may arise as Wi-Fi coverage is intended for use inside the library buildings. Staff is not available to assist with connecting with this service. If you need assistance, please contact your mobile service provider or other support.
